Healthcheck

The Fourth Corner Internal Communications Healthcheck is designed to help you review and develop your internal communications activities and to get a ‘snapshot’ of how your activities compare against a good practice benchmark. The Healthcheck is made up of two stages – a self-assessment measurement tool and a facilitated workshop.

Designed as a ‘mini–audit’, the Healthcheck evaluates performance against seven key internal communications practice areas:

Part one of the Healthcheck consists of a self-assessment benchmarking tool which provides a simple framework to help you review and evaluate your internal communications effectiveness. The tool provides benchmark statements relating to more than 40 internal communications activities across the seven categories.

Each activity is reviewed and ‘scored’ using a set of ‘traffic light’ statements.

Each activity is also rated against its importance and urgency in the context
of the organisation.

Activities included in the Healthcheck include business planning, strategic development, the profile and skills of the function, change communication, news gathering, information flow, channel framework, channel integration, internal & external alignment, segmentation, branding, formal and informal measurement, knowledge sharing, line manager skills, feedback, editorial style and many more.

The final self-assessment result shows the overall level of performance and highlights key areas for future focus. This phase of the Healthcheck enables you to see a holistic view of your activities and how you assess you own performance against a range of good practice benchmarks.

Stage two involves a full-day workshop to complement the self assessment activity. The workshop includes a facilitated discussion of the results as well as feedback and challenge from an external expert to help identify areas of development and future action. If preferred, the workshop can be used to complete the self-assessment itself.

The Healthcheck is designed as a practical tool for review and assessment, however, it can also be used as a framework for strategy development by providing a guide to key internal communications practice areas.

The Healthcheck can help you structure your internal communication strategy and to ‘cross-check’ your current and planned activities against a good practice benchmark.

The Internal Communications Healthcheck costs £1,950 – a fraction of the cost of a full audit. The price includes the self–assessment tool, a one–day workshop and a written summary.
